The fight will curtain raise for Rayton Okwiri versus Tanzania's Ally Ndaro bout
Tanzania's rowdy boxer Karim 'Mtu Kazi' Mandonga (2-3-1, 1KO) will take on Kenya's Daniel Wanyonyi (27-14-2, 22 KOs) at the KICC Ballroom on January 14, 2023.
The two will be curtain-raising for the Rayton Okwiri versus Tanzania's Ally Ndaro bout which is the main event for the day although, seemingly, the fight involving Mandonga is the one shaking the airwaves.
Okwiri was set to take on Kassim Ouma of Uganda in the middleweight fight that was initially set to take place in Kampala, Uganda on Monday 26th December but failed to take place after Okwiri demanded to be paid before the fight, sentiments echoed by the organizers of the bout in Kenya.
"Professionally, a boxer should be paid partly after the weighing-in and the medical checks. The balance should be cleared after the fight and therefore Okwiri was well within his rights to demand for the payment before taking to the ring," Franklin Imbenzi of Solid Rock Promotions said earlier.
According to Nenez Media Services, the Ugandan chickened out of the 10-bout card non-title fight forcing the organizers to bring in the Arusha-based Ally Ndaro also known as Ngunda (4-0-1, 2KOs).

In his last fight at home, Mandonga beat compatriot Said Mbelwa on a technical knockout and will be coming into the fight in high spirits.
Charges for the much-waited fight will be going for Ksh 500 for regular, Ksh 2000 for VIP, and Ksh 3000 for VVIP.
